SHOULDER MASTERCLASS WORKSHOPS – WHAT COULD GO WRONG?

May 23rd-24th, 2019, Bielsko-Biała

Welcome letter

Dear Colleagues,

it is my pleasure to invite you to take part in the 14th Bielsko-Biała Orthopedic Symposium, yet another edition of our cyclical meetings devoted to shoulder surgery and related issues, as well as the Shoulder MasterClass Workshops “What Could Go Wrong”.
Since our country had been honored with the organization of the SECEC Congress in Poznań in 2020, together with the entire board of the Polish Shoulder and Elbow Society, we all agreed that our next meeting in Bielsko-Biała shall be held in May 2019.
This year’s conference will be dedicated to discussions about tough cases we encounter every day in our practices and hospitals. In particular, we would like to focus on the following topics:

– treating complicated cases of shoulder instability,
– massive rotator cuff tears and treatment algorithms,
– postoperative complications in shoulder surgery.

Another subject to be discussed with the invited experts are throwing-related shoulder injuries in athletes.
Naturally, we are intending to continue our little tradition, which has been distinguishing our meetings in Bielsko-Biała for years, namely the live broadcasts from the operating theater.
Our last gathering accompanied the ESSKA-ESA Open Meeting 2017 in Kraków, so this time we are taking you into the mountains! The conference is taking place in the Golden Tulip Magnus, a newly constructed hotel complex.
The first two days of the meeting will be devoted entirely to the problems of treating shoulder conditions. On the third day, whoever is interested, will be given an opportunity to participate in the workshop titled “Patient communication – what could possibly go wrong?”, the aim of which is the refinement of soft skills in communicating with difficult and demanding patients. Due to technical reasons, the number of participants will be limited.
As previously, we also strongly encourage physicians from abroad who specialize in musculoskeletal surgery to take part in our conference and share their experiences in treating the most complicated cases with other participants. The conference is being organized in cooperation with the Portuguese Society of Arthroscopy led by Nuno Gomes. Our friends from Portugal will share with you their knowledge and experience in the shoulder surgery.
